Why do you want to start your workout journey?
Because
everything starts with a "why."
I actually
heard that quote from a YouTube video. In my case, the answer came before the
question: I was afraid of gaining too much weight.
Once you
have your “because,” all you have to do is start.
Where should you start?
Unless you
already have a workout in mind, here’s a simple way to begin:
1. Go on
YouTube and type “workout for beginners.” That’s it.
Start simple. Choose a duration that feels right for you—maybe just 15 minutes, three times a week. But how do you know if 15 minutes is enough?
Here’s my method: If I finish a 15-minute workout and feel nothing, I ban 15-minute workouts for my next session and go longer. I gradually increase the duration until I feel challenged.
You can
also switch up the videos daily just for fun. Some exercises even have funny
names, and you’ll get to know many of them over time.
How do you stay consistent?
Make your workout a priority.
For me,
that means waking up at 5 AM to exercise. At that time, I have no distractions,
no responsibilities, and no one calling me. It sets the tone for my day, giving
me energy and focus.
I’m not
saying you have to do the same. But if you really want to start, your workout
should be non-negotiable.
Let me help you fit workouts into your day
Find something you can replace with your
workout—preferably something that isn’t productive, like excessive scrolling or
watching TV.
This might feel like a sacrifice. But trust me, if you shift your mindset this way, you’ll find time for almost everything.
For
example, I check my WhatsApp messages after my workout. I still enjoy YouTube,
and I recently started an Instagram account—even if I don’t use it much yet.
Final thoughts
Start simple. Start with short workouts, three times a week.
As you go,
things will become clearer. Your 15 minutes will turn into 30. Your three days
will turn into four or five. And you’ll start noticing changes—especially in
your arms if you use them a lot!
I hope this
inspires you to start your workout journey. And if you do, I wish you all the
best. If you don’t, I still wish you all the best.
